Description

ER Registered Nurse

Location

Cheyenne, Wyoming

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour day and evening shifts
  • Self-scheduling available
  • Block scheduling not allowed
  • Every other weekend required
  • Rotating holidays required

Required Qualifications

  • RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • TNCC
  • ENPC or PALS
  • Minimum 1 year of ER experience

Preferred

  • CPI
  • Prior travel experience preferred

Unit Details

  • 44-bed Level 2 trauma emergency department
  • Handles STEMI and stroke receiving
  • Travelers may work in all areas, including triage if comfortable
  • ER holds are managed in the department
  • Separate locked psych/seclusion area with 10 video-monitored rooms
  • In-house security available 24/7
  • Average patient volume is 100-105 per day
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with flexibility up to 1:6 in psych and fast track
  • Pediatrics make up about 10% of cases

Support and Equipment

  • At least 2 MDs and mid-levels on staff
  • Techs, paramedics, sitters for psych patients, and EKG techs available
  • Respiratory therapy available 24/7
  • X-ray and CT are located next to the department
  • Nurses draw labs when starting IVs

Orientation

  • 1.5 days on unit

Housing

  • Housing leads available on request (at additional cost)
