- Nights, 12-hour shifts
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Driver’s license required at submittal
- Must pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher
Experience / Clinical Expectations
- Stepdown / PCU nursing experience
- Must be able to titrate drips
- Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
- May float to ICU if appropriate and experienced
Unit Details
- 22-bed stepdown unit
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4
- Charge nurse takes a full patient assignment
- Nursing assistants / patient care techs are present at a 1:10 ratio
- Common patient types include heart failure, atrial fibrillation, respiratory distress, and stroke
Schedule Requirements
- Cyclic scheduling
- Every other weekend
- 1 major and 1 minor holiday
Additional Notes
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
- One 12-hour unit orientation shift is provided
