RN Surgical Specialty

Location

• Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Contract

• 13 weeks
• 36 hours per week
• 12-hour shifts

Setting

• Hospital-based med/surg surgical transplant unit
• Mixed med/surg and stepdown/PCU acuity
• Not a PACU role
• Does not accept OR candidates

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Oklahoma
• 1 year of Med Surg experience
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience in an acute care setting
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
• Transplant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• ENT experience
• Preceptor experience
• Charge experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher from a board-approved program

Role Summary

• Provides nursing care for patients with simple to complex health problems
• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients
• Documents patient responses and changes in physician orders
• Assists with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
• Monitors patient data and intervenes as needed
• Administers medications and manages IV infusions and blood products
• Communicates care plans and discharge information to patients and families
• Coordinates referrals and delegates tasks to support staff
