Description

Pediatric Stepdown RN

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Baltimore, Maryland
  • Pediatric stepdown unit with rehab-focused care
  • 13-week contract
  • Day shift, 3x12 schedule
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required as scheduled
  • Floating required within the specialty and to other departments as needed
  • On-call not required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Maryland
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Stepdown experience within the last year
  • 2 years of stepdown experience
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
  • Tracheostomy and ventilator management experience
  • Pediatric Cardiac Stepdown experience

Patient Population

  • Pediatrics and adolescents
  • Mixed diagnoses include traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, burns, feeding disorders, failure to thrive, spina bifida, cerebral palsy, and post-orthopedic surgical patients

Work Environment

  • Mixed unit; rehab focus
  • Pediatric stepdown, not PCU
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4

Schedule Details

  • Shift hours: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
  • Rotating day/night schedule noted in source
  • Scrubs: any color, any pattern

Compliance / Pre-Start Requirements

  • Two supervisory references
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Previous 5 years of employment history verification
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit test within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB screening or chest X-ray
  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption for the 2025–26 season
  • Drug screen required before start
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B immunity/documentation required
  • Tdap required for units working with children
  • Background check and state exclusion screening required
  • Photo for badge
  • Confidentiality agreement and job description signature required before start
