Description
Stepdown Cardiac RN
Overview
- Travel/contract role in Manchester, New Hampshire
- Night shift: 4x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
- 13-week contract
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- No Thanksgiving RTO
Role focus
- Assigned to the ED unit to care for inpatient/CICU level holds in the ED
- Strong PCU background within the last year is required
- ED experience is preferred but not required
- First-time travelers are accepted only with 2 years of experience and EPIC experience
Required qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Hampshire
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB)
- NIHSS
- Experience managing and titrating intravenous drips including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
- ED - Emergency Department experience
- Experience with Epic
Unit details
- Common patient types include chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, pneumonia, and overflow medical/surgical/trauma/oncology/orthopedic cases
- Also sees post-cath with stent only, ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
- Uses BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris pumps, and Phillips monitoring system
Work expectations
- Floating to similar units may be expected
- Team nursing / helping hands approach is used
- Patient sitting may be part of the assignment
