Description

RN (Registered Nurse)

Location

  • Martinsburg, West Virginia

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Nights
  • 12-hour shifts
  • 48 hours per week
  • Every other weekend
  • Rotating holidays as needed

Unit Overview

  • Medical-surgical ortho/neuro unit
  • 21 beds
  • Typical patient ratio: 1:5-6
  • Common patient types include totals, spines, occ burr holes, seizures, cranies, brain stim, traction for hips, Bucks traction, and med-surg overflow

Required Qualifications

  • RN license
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • Must have a driver’s license with an address outside 50 miles from the facility
  • Must submit only to one position at a time across the WVU system
  • Must disclose any background hits at time of submission
  • Unexpired copy of driver’s license required with submission

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS

Clinical Expectations

  • Must have basic arrhythmia knowledge and be able to recognize fatal rhythms
  • Must be able to manage IV heparin or Protonix drips, but not titrating drips or cardiac drips
  • Must be able to work with BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow oxygen
  • Must be able to float to other med-surg units, but not to ED or Behavioral Health
  • Must work with remote telemetry monitoring
  • Must be comfortable with admissions and discharges support from the charge nurse on days

Orientation

  • 1 shift with a preceptor
  • Net Learning modules and EPIC training included

Additional Notes

  • Attendance is very important
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Hair must be a natural color
  • Excessive or distasteful tattoos must be covered
