RN Stepdown

Location

  • Morgantown, West Virginia

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • Nights
  • 12-hour shifts
  • 48 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in West Virginia
  • Stepdown experience with 2 years of experience
  • Stepdown experience within the last year
  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Driver's License
  • Med Surg experience

Unit Details

  • 32-bed stepdown unit
  • Typical patient population includes post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 to 1:4
  • RN interprets and charts patient rhythm with assessment every 4 hours or more often when titrating medications
  • Common drips include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix
  • No ventilators; BiPAP and tracheostomy patients are seen
  • Centralized telemetry is used for rhythm interpretation and EKG strip charting

Scheduling Requirements

  • 3 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule
  • Holidays may be required
  • No call or standby
  • Floating is very rare

Orientation

  • 3 shifts of unit orientation

Dress Code

  • Royal blue scrubs

Submission Notes

  • Only one submission at a time across the WVU system
  • Previous permanent employees must have been gone for 2 years
  • Previous travelers who completed 1 full year must have been gone for 2 years
  • Travel teams must be submitted together in one email
  • Up to 2 candidates may be submitted per opening
