Description
RN (Registered Nurse) — Chattanooga, Tennessee
Contract
- 13 weeks
- 12-hour day shifts
- 48 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Active BLS and ACLS
- Experience or skills in medical cardiac care
- Ability to titrate drips
Unit Details
- Medical cardiac telemetry unit
- 32 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5 on day shift, 1:6 on night shift
- Charge nurse is present on every shift and takes an assignment
- Patient care technicians are available
- Nurses are required to float as needed
- On-call may be required as a last resort for travelers
- Self-scheduling and block scheduling are allowed
- Every other weekend or less
- Holiday shifts are assigned on a rotation basis
Clinical Details
- Common diagnoses include congestive heart failure
- Common drips include amiodarone, heparin, insulin, and Cardizem
- High-flow oxygen and BiPAP may be used for less than 24 hours
- Nurses are responsible for reading their own ECG strips
- No on-unit telemetry/monitor technicians; virtual monitoring is used
Orientation and Dress Code
- Unit-specific orientation lasts 3 shifts
- Navy blue scrubs are worn
