Description

Respiratory Therapist

Job Overview

  • 13-week contract
  • Princeton, West Virginia
  • 12-hour night shifts
  • 36 hours per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating is within the facility only

Required Qualifications

  • Active West Virginia respiratory therapist license
  • 3 years of respiratory therapy experience
  • Experience with ventilators, ABGs, BiPAP, infant vents/CPAP, resuscitation, and EKGs
  • Experience in ER, ICU, and inpatient adult care
  • Must be able to assist with intubation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pediatric experience

Certifications

  • ACLS
  • BLS
  • CRT via NBRC
  • NRP
  • PALS
  • STABLE

Clinical Setting

  • Works across all inpatient areas and the ED
  • Also performs inpatient and outpatient EKGs and outpatient bronchoscopy in a procedural setting
  • Adults are the primary patient population, with pediatric and neonatal care also present

Duties

  • Breathing treatments
  • Vent management
  • Drawing and running ABG samples
  • EKGs for assigned respiratory treatment areas
  • May place arterial lines
  • May initiate CPAP on an infant

Schedule and Assignment Details

  • Set schedule made 4 weeks at a time
  • Holidays are worked only if they fall on a scheduled shift
  • No call or standby call
  • Travelers are not required to cover sleep lab, pulmonary rehab, or cardiac rehab
  • Travelers are not required to do critical care transport outside the facility

Work Environment

  • Open ICU
  • Hospitalist in house 24/7
  • Lead therapist or supervisor available for questions
  • First-day general orientation, classroom orientation, modules, and then shadowing with a preceptor

  • Men must be clean shaven
