PCU RN

Overview

  • Travel/contract role in Overland Park, Kansas
  • Day shift: 3x12 hours, 6:45 AM–7:15 PM
  • 36 hours per week
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • First-time travelers accepted

Work Setting

  • Float pool position with no home unit
  • Floats among Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU units, with possible floating to other metro campuses as needed
  • Patient ratio: 1:5
  • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments may be required
  • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in each 6-week schedule period

Required Qualifications

  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Valid RN license in Kansas
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NIHSS
  • Telemetry experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS

Skills and Clinical Experience

  • MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, and neuro stepdown experience
  • Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
  • Pre/post cardiac cath experience
  • Experience with sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID
  • Preferred experience with sheath removal, feeding tube care and management, accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line care/management

  • No more than 7 days of requested time off
  • On-call not required
  • Block scheduling not accommodated
  • Unit-specific competency exam required
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for new contracts
  • Color blind testing required within 12 months of start
  • Two professional references required
