RN Observation Unit

Location

• New Albany, Indiana

Schedule

• 3rd shift, 7p-7a
• 12-hour shifts
• 36 hours per week

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Role Summary

• Provides direct patient care on the unit, including rounds, assessments, treatments, admissions, transfers, discharges, patient and family education, care coordination, and individualized treatment planning.
• Uses the nursing process, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice to assess patient needs, respond to changes in condition, and support a healing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Performs and documents comprehensive patient assessments.
• Prioritizes care for multiple patients and coordinates the plan of care.
• Delegates tasks appropriately and oversees team members’ patient care activities.
• Supports discharge planning and teaching in coordination with Case Management and others as needed.
• Participates in unit-based activities and quality improvement efforts, including patient satisfaction, falls, pressure ulcers, CAUTIs, and documentation audits.

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• Nursing experience in direct patient care within the observation unit setting
