RN - PCU
Location
- Overland Park, Kansas
Assignment Details
- Travel position
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- Unit: Progressive Care Unit
- 18 beds
- Patient ratio: 1:4-5
- Self-scheduling with 3 weekend shifts per 4 weeks
- No on-call requirement
- Floating may be required
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Kansas
- Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- Telemetry PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Telemetry experience
Unit Overview
- Care for cardiac and pulmonary patients with moderate physiologic instability
- Common patient types include COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, CHF, and trach patients
- Continuous cardiac monitoring is used
- Meditech is used for documentation
Equipment and Support
- Alaris pumps
- Kangaroo pump
- Pyxis
- Computers in every room
Staffing
- 2 PCTs
- 1 unit secretary
Scheduling and Work Expectations
- Royal blue uniform
- Nursing interventions occur at least every 3-4 hours
- Vital signs are taken every 4 hours
- Blood glucose monitoring is every 4 hours
- Neurological monitoring occurs as needed
