Description

ICU Registered Nurse

Location

  • Parkersburg, West Virginia

Assignment Length

  • 13 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts
  • Self-scheduling and block scheduling are allowed if unit needs are met
  • Every other weekend required
  • Rare call or standby

Required Qualifications

  • Active West Virginia RN license
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NIHSS
  • At least 1 year of critical care experience

Experience / Skills

  • Prior travel experience preferred
  • Must be competent with CRRT, IABP, ventilators, post-code care, therapeutic hypothermia, vasoactive medications, sedation, and paralytics

Unit Details

  • ICU with 18 private rooms
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
  • May stretch to 1:3 during overflow or stepdown
  • Floating required to Stepdown and MedSurg as needed

Clinical Environment

  • Common patient types include sepsis, pneumonia, COVID, CHF, COPD, DKA, overdose, renal failure, neurosurgical cases, general surgery, occasional MI, and vascular patients
  • RN titrates drips within ordered parameters
  • RN responsibilities include central line care and removal
  • Dedicated respiratory therapy coverage is available daily
  • Telemetry monitoring is supported by remote tele techs as backup

Orientation

  • 2 shifts of general/floor orientation
  • General education competencies must be completed before arrival
  • EPIC education must be completed before starting on the floor

Dress Code

  • Royal blue scrubs
  • Scrub jackets are allowed only if they are actual scrub jackets
  • Hoodies and sweatshirts are not allowed
