Description
Med Surg/Peds RN
Location
- Dickinson, North Dakota
Assignment Length
- 17 weeks
Schedule
- Nights, 12-hour shifts
- Self-scheduling
- 36 hours per week
- Weekend coverage as needed
Unit Overview
- Medical-surgical/pediatric unit
- 17 beds total: 14 inpatient and 3 observation
- Cares for adults and pediatric patients
- Common patient types include UTI, altered mental status, pneumonia, and COPD
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- BLS certification
- PALS certification
Clinical Expectations
- No clinical involvement
- Does not require titrating drips
- Charge nurse is on each shift and takes an assignment
- Nurses apply telemetry to patients
- Pediatric patients are not managed by the hospitalist
- Respiratory therapy primarily manages BiPAP
- Floating may be required to the ED or ICU for 1:1 assignments
Staffing and Support
- Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights
- Nurse aides are on the unit
- Pediatrician is on call for pediatric patients
Orientation
- 1 unit-specific 12-hour orientation shift, or one day and one night if needed
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
Additional Notes
- RTO must be submitted upfront
- Additional RTO will not be approved after submission
- Candidates must be outside a 50-mile radius
- Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
- Facial hair may affect fit testing requirements
