ICU Registered Nurse

Location

• Kearney, Nebraska

Contract Length

• 18 weeks

Schedule

• 12-hour nights
• Shifts: 6:30 PM–6:30 AM or 6:30 AM–6:30 PM
• Every other weekend
• Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
• 1 shift of unit-specific orientation

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Driver’s license required at submittal

Clinical Details

• ICU setting with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16
• Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2–3 for adults
• Common patient types include trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance use, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
• Required to titrate drips
• Common drips include cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
• Must be able to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
• May float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg
• May need to troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilator
• Nurse aides and healthcare support techs are available based on census

Additional Notes

• Radius rule: candidates must live more than 50 miles away
• Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
• Block scheduling is not guaranteed
• Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
• If called back in while on call, arrival is required within 30 minutes
• RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Travelers must pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher
