Description
ICU Registered Nurse
Location
- Kearney, Nebraska
Contract Length
- 18 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour nights
- Shifts: 6:30 PM–6:30 AM or 6:30 AM–6:30 PM
- Every other weekend
- Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract
- 1 shift of unit-specific orientation
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Driver’s license required at submittal
Clinical Details
- ICU setting with 33 beds and an average daily census of 16
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2–3 for adults
- Common patient types include trauma, cardiac, overdose/substance use, sepsis, post-stent, pacemaker placement, stroke, vascular cases, renal failure, heart failure, and respiratory distress
- Required to titrate drips
- Common drips include cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
- Must be able to read, interpret, and document telemetry strips
- May float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg
- May need to troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to ventilator
- Nurse aides and healthcare support techs are available based on census
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: candidates must live more than 50 miles away
- Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and Dignity
- Block scheduling is not guaranteed
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- If called back in while on call, arrival is required within 30 minutes
- RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
- Travelers must pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher
