Registered Nurse

Schedule
- Nights
- 12-hour shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Shift times: 6:30 PM–7:00 AM and 6:30 AM–7:00 PM
- Travelers will be scheduled
- Limited block scheduling may be approved
Required Qualifications
- RN license
- BLS (AHA)
- NIHSS
- Driver’s license required at submittal
- No license hits
- No background hits
Experience / Candidate Preferences
- Travel experience is preferred
- Strong candidates without travel experience will be considered
Unit Details
- 25 beds
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5–6
- Charge nurse on each shift
- Patient care techs available, ratio 1:10–20
- Tele techs interpret rhythms; RNs should have some telemetry awareness
- No RT equipment troubleshooting
Common Patient Population
- Med Surg / Tele patients including:
- strokes
- stable neurological deficits
- post-neurosurgery patients
- joint replacements
- fractures
- colon resections
- COPD exacerbation
- prostatectomy
- cellulitis
- sepsis
- ortho trauma
- GI bleeds
- pneumonia
- failure to thrive
Clinical Skills
- Titrate heparin, lidocaine, and ketamine drips
- PCA pumps used
Scheduling Requirements
- At least every other weekend
- 2–3 holidays between Thanksgiving and New Year’s
Floating
- May float to other medical-surgical areas or units with Med Surg patients waiting for a bed
Orientation
- 2 days of unit-specific orientation
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs
Other Requirements
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- Must pass an open-book orientation exam with a score of 90% or higher
- Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity
- Must live outside a 50-mile radius
- Mechanical lifts are available in every other room
