PCU RN

Overview

  • Travel/contract RN position in Anchorage, Alaska
  • 13-week assignment
  • Night shift: 4x12
  • Start: ASAP
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Floating may be required within scope to lower-acuity units, renal care, neuro, and MS
  • Weekend coverage may be more frequent than every other weekend, depending on staffing needs
  • Block scheduling is not available
  • Local candidates are not accepted; permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility
  • On-call is not required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Alaska
  • PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
  • 1 year of PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or Heart & Stroke Foundation
  • NIHSS
  • NURSYS verification

Unit Details

  • PCU stepdown unit serving a wide variety of patient populations
  • Bedside RN ratio: 1:4
  • CNA ratio: 1:6
  • Virtual nursing model is used on the unit
  • Common patient populations include cardiac, respiratory, neuro, renal, and complex medical-surgical patients
  • The unit manages patients requiring high-flow nasal cannula and BiPAP
