Description
Neuro ICU Travel Nurse
Location
- Charlotte, North Carolina
Job Details
- Travel/contract role
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
- 36 hours per week
- Float required
- Every other weekend required
- Call not required
- Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1, with possible flex to 3:1 in high census
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in North Carolina
- Neuro ICU (2 years of experience)
- Neuro ICU experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Clinical Skills / Experience
- Ventilator care
- IV start
- Neuro ICU care
- Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Blood product administration
- Central line care and management
- Continuous IV sedation
- CVA / acute stroke management
- External ventricular drains (EVD)
- ICP monitoring
- Post-neurosurgery care
- Isolation precautions and PPE use
- Lumbar drain experience
Unit Overview
- Comprehensive stroke center
- Common patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, SAH, SDH, craniotomies, carotid procedures, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis
- Unit equipment includes EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
Scheduling / Orientation
- Scheduling is based on unit needs
- Unit orientation is 24 hours total
Additional Notes
- RTO after booking is not allowed
- Navy blue and white scrubs required
