Neuro ICU Travel Nurse

Location

  • Charlotte, North Carolina

Job Details

  • Travel/contract role
  • 13-week assignment
  • Night shift: 3x12 hours, 18:45–07:15
  • 36 hours per week
  • Float required
  • Every other weekend required
  • Call not required
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 2:1, with possible flex to 3:1 in high census

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Neuro ICU (2 years of experience)
  • Neuro ICU experience within the last year
  • One completed travel assignment
  • ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Clinical Skills / Experience

  • Ventilator care
  • IV start
  • Neuro ICU care
  • Dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Blood product administration
  • Central line care and management
  • Continuous IV sedation
  • CVA / acute stroke management
  • External ventricular drains (EVD)
  • ICP monitoring
  • Post-neurosurgery care
  • Isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Lumbar drain experience

Unit Overview

  • Comprehensive stroke center
  • Common patient population includes ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, SAH, SDH, craniotomies, carotid procedures, aneurysm coiling/clipping, seizures, depth electrodes, and myasthenia gravis
  • Unit equipment includes EVDs, lumbar drains, Camino, LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun

Scheduling / Orientation

  • Scheduling is based on unit needs
  • Unit orientation is 24 hours total

Additional Notes

  • RTO after booking is not allowed
  • Navy blue and white scrubs required
