Description
Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical/Telemetry
Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Hours: 36 hours per week, every other week rotation
Setting: Inpatient Hold unit (preference for ability to take Emergency Department patients as well)
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Medical/Surgical and Telemetry units.
- Support inpatient hold patients with acuity and nurse-to-patient ratios.
- May be required to assist with Emergency Department patients.
Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut.
Education
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Certifications (must be current and uploaded)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by the American Heart Association or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC).
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of Emergency Department (ED) experience within the last year.
- Experience in an inpatient setting.
- Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing experience.
Health and Safety Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccination proof (including booster by September 2025), or approved declination/exemption (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
- Influenza vaccine proof or approved declination/exemption for current flu season (declination not accepted in CA or IL).
- Hepatitis B vaccination series must be initiated prior to start.
- MMR vaccination proof (2 doses or immunity titer).
- Varicella vaccination proof (1 dose or immunity titer).
- Tdap vaccination (declination accepted if no pediatric interaction).
- Tuberculosis screening: 2-step PPD or IGRA test; if positive, chest x-ray within last year (for CT and certain other states).
- Physical/health statement confirming fitness to work within the last year.
- Respirator fit test.
- 10-panel drug screen completed within 30 days of start (no THC).
Professional and Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check (federal, nationwide, county for last 7 years) with SSN verification, dated within 30 days of start.
- Education verification (highest degree or diploma/GED).
- Various compliance forms including:
- Code of Conduct
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure
- Confidentiality and Information Security Agreement
- Integrity and Audit Services Form
- Criminal Background Check
- EPLS, OIG, OFAC, NSO checks (all dated within 30 days of start)
- Specialty-specific competency testing and skills checklist (completed within the last year).
- Trinity system access form completed one week before start.
- CORE exam within the last year.
Additional Notes
- License and certification verifications must be dated within 30 days of start.
- All required documents and certifications must be uploaded to the credentialing system prior to onboarding.
- Agency will provide the skills checklist for clinical contractors.
- Must be able to work 7a-7:30p shifts with every other week rotation.
This position is suitable for experienced RNs with Medical/Surgical and Telemetry skills who are comfortable working in inpatient hold units and potentially assisting with Emergency Department patients.
