Description

Registered Nurse — Cardiovascular ICU

Location

  • Peoria, Illinois

Contract Length

  • 15 weeks

Schedule

  • 12-hour day shifts
  • Every other weekend
  • Every other holiday
  • No self-scheduling or block scheduling

Unit Overview

  • 20-bed adult cardiac intensive care unit
  • All rooms are private and monitored
  • Patient ratios vary by acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Illinois
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • CVICU (2 years of experience)
  • CVICU experience within the last year
  • Experience in a Critical Care setting
  • Ability to interpret cardiac monitor strips
  • Ability to titrate vasoactive and sedative drips

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS
  • CCRN

Patient Population

  • Post-open-heart surgical patients
  • Cardiovascular ICU patients with conditions such as STEMI, unstable angina, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, severe heart failure, and cardiac-related ICU events
  • Ventilated patients
  • Overflow patients from other ICUs, including COVID patients
  • Post-VAD placement and post-heart transplant patients are expected soon

  • IABPs
  • Impellas
  • Swan Ganz catheters
  • ECMO
  • External pacemakers
  • CRRT
  • PICC lines, midlines, CVCs, Swan lines, and arterial lines
  • Temporary pacemakers
  • Ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide

Staffing and Support

  • Charge nurse available 24/7
  • House supervisor available 24/7
  • PCT support available
  • Respiratory therapists available 24/7
  • Monitor techs available

Floating

  • Float to every level of care
  • Travelers are expected to take a full team

Dress Code

  • Scrubs must be clean and appropriate
  • Scrubs are not provided
