Operating Room Assistant

Location

Schedule

• Rotating shift
• 40 hours per week
• 8 hours per day

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Summary

• Assists nursing staff with receiving, caring for, and transporting patients in the perioperative area.
• Supports patient care, equipment cleaning and maintenance, supply handling, and general unit support.

Required Qualifications

• Surgical Technician (1 year of experience)
• Surgical Technician experience within the last year
• High school diploma or GED

Key Responsibilities

• Transport and receive patients, equipment, supplies, blood products, and specimens
• Clean and maintain patient care equipment and operating room equipment
• Dispose of trash and linen according to protocol
• Perform assigned patient care tasks such as shave preps, non-invasive monitoring, specimen collection, ambulating, and repositioning patients
• Practice aseptic techniques and follow infection control policies
• Support quality control, quality assurance, preventive maintenance, and quality improvement activities
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment through housekeeping and stocking duties
• Participate in in-services, evaluations, staff meetings, and committees as requested
• Work with the clinical educator to orient new staff members and cross-train to select anesthesia technician role functions
