Travel Nurse Position

Overview

• Role: Registered Nurse

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in North Dakota
• Med Surg (1 year of experience)
• Med Surg experience within the last year
• ACLS issued by American Heart Association
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• TNCC
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing

Schedule and Work Expectations

• 12-hour shifts
• Modified self-scheduling
• Every other to every 3rd weekend
• May be asked to participate in holiday rotation
• No call or standby requirement

Unit Details

• Med Surg unit with 25 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:3-6 for Med Surg; 1:10-13 for swing bed
• Charge nurse typically has a light patient assignment
• Nurse aides are available, with ratios depending on staffing and census

Clinical Responsibilities

• Read and interpret own telemetry strips
• Titrate insulin, heparin, and most medications until transfer if warranted
• Work across acute Med Surg, swing bed, and ER
• Perform ABGs, breathing treatments, and 12-lead EKGs
• Access and de-access ports
• Manage PICC lines
• Provide wound care and wound vac care
• Mix and prepare medications

Floating

• May float between Med Surg/Swing Bed and ER

Orientation

• 4-8 shifts, depending on assigned areas and roles

Dress Code

• Any color or print scrubs
• Closed-toe shoes
