Cardiac Sonographer
Location
- Palo Alto, California
Schedule
- Days
- 8-hour shifts
- 40 hours per week
- Potential rotating weekends
- Block scheduling is flexible
- On-call, weekend, holiday, and outreach clinic coverage may be assigned
Contract Length
- 13 weeks, with potential for extension
Required Qualifications
- Cardiac Sonographer (10 years of experience)
- Cardiac Sonographer experience within the last year
- Successful completion of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program
- RDCS or PE
- RCCS
Required Skills
- Knowledge of ultrasound diagnostic procedures and equipment/instrumentation
- Ability to interpret physician instructions and patient medical and clinical records to determine the ultrasound procedure to perform
- Ability to perform echocardiography on a varied patient population
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and congenital/acquired cardiac pathology as they relate to ultrasound diagnostic procedures
- Ability to apply judgment and make informed decisions
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work effectively as a team player
- Knowledge of computer systems and software used in the functional area
- Knowledge of PACS principles and/or other electronic image processing and image development systems
- Knowledge of ultrasound physics
- Knowledge of safety principles and procedures related to ultrasound procedures and equipment
Role Overview
- Performs diagnostic cardiac ultrasound studies for patients of all ages
- Assists with complex congenital cardiac studies
- Reviews exam indications and relevant medical information before the echocardiogram
- Uses ultrasound equipment to obtain diagnostic images
- Presents and reviews echocardiographic studies with a physician and obtains additional images as requested
- Performs quantitative assessment of echocardiographic data
- Documents observations and quantifications in PACS for final review
- Ensures studies are archived on the PACS network
- Helps maintain ultrasound equipment and accessories
- Participates in quality improvement meetings
