Description
Med Surg Ortho RN
Location
- Council Bluffs, Iowa
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- Every third weekend
- Self-scheduling
Required Qualifications
- Iowa or compact RN license
- BLS certification
- 1 year of unit experience
- Driver’s license required at submittal
Unit Details
- Med Surg / Ortho unit
- 28 beds plus 22 overflow beds
- Typical nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:5
- Charge nurse works each shift and takes an assignment
- Nurse aides/patient care techs are available at a ratio of 1:10
- RNs do not titrate drips
- Common patient types include orthopedic, medical-surgical, respiratory, infectious disease, wound care, and behavioral health-related cases
Floating
- May float to PCU and behavioral health
Orientation
- First week is classroom orientation, followed by one 12-hour shift on the unit
Additional Notes
- Artificial nails are prohibited in patient care areas
- RTO must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
- Candidates must live at least 50 miles away
- Candidates cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities within the past year
