Overview

• Location: Renton, Washington
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Contract length: 15 weeks
• Schedule: Variable shifts, majority nights
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: Yes
• Call/standby: None

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of ER experience
• 1+ year of trauma experience
• Prior travel experience
• ACLS
• BLS
• ENPC
• NIHSS
• PALS
• TNCC
• Epic experience
• Must not have license hits related to diverting meds or endangerment

Preferred / Helpful

• Comfortable providing culturally competent care to a highly diverse patient population

Unit Details

• 55 beds total
• 8–12 swing beds
• 4 trauma bays
• Separate triage area in the lobby
• Fast track available, known as AC (accelerated care)
• Separate psych/seclusion rooms
• 24/7 monitor tech
• In-house security
• 4-zone department
• MST and RNs read strips
• RNs and MSTs perform ECGs
• RNs draw ABGs and set up small dose breathing treatments
• RT manages respiratory equipment and is available for consult
• Critical patients are transported by RNs
• Nurse and MST draws for phlebotomy

Patient Population

• About 250 patients per day
• Common diagnoses: STEMI, Stroke, DKA, Sepsis, Trauma, Respiratory Diseases, Behavioral Health

Staffing / Ratios

• Main ED ratio: 4:1
• Accelerated care ratio: 5:1
• Critical care ratio: 2:1
• ED physicians/mid-levels: Both
• Charge nurse/house supervisor: Both
• Nurse aids/paramedics/patient sitters: MST, ED techs, and patient sitters

Orientation

• First day with ED leadership and badging
• 2–3 shifts of bedside orientation
