Description
RN - PCU
Overview
- Travel RN position in Anchorage, Alaska
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Alaska
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- 1 year of experience in PCU - Progressive Care Unit
- ACLS
- BLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Telemetry experience
Preferred Experience
- Experience with trach patients requiring continuous BiPap / long-term vent support
- Experience with titratable drips
- Experience with CIWA assessments and alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment
Unit Details
- Step-down / progressive care unit
- 19 beds
- 3:1 patient ratio
- Fast-paced unit with rapid responses, ED admissions, and ICU transfers
Common Equipment / Clinical Support
- Bedside monitors
- Alaris IV pumps
- Heated humidity high-flow oxygen
- BiPAP
- Chest tubes
- Tracheostomy support
- Kangaroo feeding pumps
- Gastric tubes
- Surgical drains
Typical Procedures
- Emergent cardioversion
Scheduling / Work Expectations
- Every other weekend, or 4 weekend shifts per month
- Delayed start may be used instead of on-call shifts if census is low
- Bedside handoff is mandatory
- Physical assessments, intake/output every 4 hours
- Hourly safety rounds
- Repositioning and ADLs every 2 hours as indicated
Floating
- May float to cardiac surgery IMC, med-tele, med-surg, and ortho-neuro
Dress Code
- Navy blue scrubs

About
Anchorage is a unique city surrounded by 5,000-foot-high peaks in the south-central part of Alaska along the Cook Inlet, where abundant salmon and whales swim through.
