Location

• Silverdale, Washington

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Schedule

• Days, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend
• Must work holidays in November/December; manager may consider 1 of the 3 holidays if it does not conflict with unit demands

Unit Details

• ER/Trauma Center
• 56 beds, with hall beds bringing capacity to 60–70
• Fast track area with 6 beds
• Separate triage area with 5 beds
• 18 beds designated for inpatient holds
• Locked hall with 6 private treatment rooms
• Approximately 170–200 patients per day
• In-house security
• Telemetry on the unit
• Radiology department is adjacent to the ED
• Transport assists with patient movement as available

Required Qualifications

• Active WA or Compact RN license
• BLS
• ACLS
• TNCC
• PALS
• 2 full years of ER experience
• Will accept a traveler with 1 year of experience in a larger trauma setting

Preferred Qualifications

• ENPC

Responsibilities / Clinical Notes

• Common patient types include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory, abdominal pain, and mental health
• ER RNs manage their own ER holds
• ED Techs perform EKGs
• RTs manage vents, CPAP, BiPAP, and other RT equipment, and complete ABGs
• Nurse or ED Tech primarily draws labs; lab assists when needed

Scheduling / Staffing Notes

• No call or standby requirement
• Floating is not required
• Extra shifts may be available but are not required
• Travelers may be assigned to triage after taking a triage test
• Existing patterns are built for traveler schedules
• No RTO for the first full week of the assignment

Orientation

• Orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 weeks
• Expect 25+ hours
• Unit orientation includes 1 day of compliance information and 1 day of department orientation
