Overview

• Specialty: ER
• Location: Silverdale, Washington
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Orientation: Expect 25+ hours; orientation/education hours are not guaranteed during the first 2 weeks of the assignment

Required Qualifications

• Active BLS
• Active ACLS
• Active WA License
• 2 full years of experience
• Experience in a larger trauma setting is accepted with 1 year of experience

Preferred

• NIHSS
• PALS
• TNCC

Unit Details

• ER/Trauma Center
• 56 beds, with hall beds increasing capacity to 60–70
• Fast track: 6 beds
• Separate triage area: 5 beds
• Holding area: 18 beds designated for inpatient holds
• Separate psych/seclusion area: locked hall with 6 private treatment rooms
• In-house security: Yes
• Average patients per day: approximately 170–200
• Typical ratios: 1:3; low acuity 1:4

Clinical Responsibilities / Environment

• Common patient types include cardiac, stroke, sepsis, DKA, AMS, respiratory, abdominal pain, and mental health
• ED Techs perform EKGs
• RTs manage vents, CPap, Bipap, and other RT equipment, and complete ABGs
• Nurse or ED Tech primarily draws labs
• Radiology is adjacent to the ED, and transport assists with patient movement as available
• Tele is present on the unit
• Monitor Techs are present
• RNs read strips

Scheduling / Policies

• Every other weekend
• Must work holidays in November/December; manager may consider 1 of the 3 holidays if it does not conflict with unit demands
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating: No
• RTO: No RTO will be considered for the first full week of the assignment
• Scrubs: Any professional colors
