ICU RN
Overview
- ICU RN for WV
- Location: Martinsburg, West Virginia
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Nights, 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
Unit
- ICU (MICU/SICU/Neuro)
- 20 beds
- Average daily census: 16–17
- Supports Stepdown needs for the facility
- Typical float scope: travelers do not usually float outside the ICU
Required Qualifications
- BLS (AHA)
- ACLS (AHA)
- NIHSS
- COVID vaccine required
- Must submit only to 1 position at a time across the WVU system
- Driver’s license address must be outside 50 miles from the facility
- Previous perm candidates must be gone for 2 years
- Previous travelers there for 1 full year must be gone for 2 years
Preferred Qualifications
- PALS
- TNCC
Clinical Details
- Ratios: 1:1–2 for ICU; 1:3 for Stepdown
- Common patient types include post cath lab, balloon pumps, ventrics, and CRRT
- No Open Hearts
- Thoracic surgeon is in-house 2x/month
- RT is in-house 24/7
- Pharmacy is in-house 24/7
- Designated Charge Nurse 24/7
- 1–2 shifts of orientation with a preceptor
Schedule and Staffing
- Every-other-weekend required
- Holidays are rotated
- Block scheduling may be allowed if included in the contract
- Night shifts are usually blocked
- Travelers are limited to 2 candidates per opening for submission
Additional Notes
- Scrub color: navy blue
- Distasteful tattoos must be covered
- No IV team
- No monitor techs
- EPIC is used
