Rad Tech - Rad Gen
Overview
- Radiologic Technologist performing diagnostic general radiological procedures.
- Based in Urbana, Illinois.
- Shift: Days, Tuesday through Friday, 8:00a–6:30p.
- Contract length: 13 weeks.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Radiology Technologist license in Illinois.
- Radiology Technologist experience within the last year.
- 1 year of Radiology Technologist experience.
- IEMA Radiography License.
- ARRT (R).
- BLS issued by American Heart Association.
- Associate's degree in a related field or certificate in radiologic technology.
Responsibilities
- Performs radiographic procedures by acquiring and processing patient exams according to department protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
- Reviews cases with the radiologist when appropriate.
- Reviews labs and patient history to perform the correct exam.
- Administers IV, oral, and rectal contrast when appropriate.
- Recognizes and responds to adverse or allergic reactions.
- Screens for pregnancy and performs pregnancy testing if applicable.
- Reviews radiology orders for completeness and accuracy.
- Reviews patient history and supporting clinical data for medical necessity.
- Obtains additional information from the patient, ordering provider, and/or radiologist when needed.
- Transfers and verifies image data in PACS and provides necessary medical history and information for radiologist interpretation.
- Maintains imaging equipment, supply inventories, and work area orderliness.
- Reports equipment malfunctions and service needs in a timely manner.
- Ensures patient, visitor, and environmental safety and reports safety events immediately, including near misses.
- Assists in instruction of students and new staff as necessary.
- May perform duties of Rad Tech Lead or Imaging Coordinator in their absence.
- May be required to perform duties of other modalities within the department for which the technologist/sonographer is licensed.
- Assists other areas during downtimes to maintain productivity.
