PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care RN

Overview

• 13-week assignment in Yuma, Arizona
• Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Unit: PCU Cardiac/Intermediate Care - A2
• 36 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights

Required Qualifications

• RN
• 3+ years of experience
• Active BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Must have PCU/Stepdown/Tele experience on this unit
• No first-time travelers
• Must have one successfully completed assignment
• Must have experience with all drips listed for the unit
• Must be able to read tele strips

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with TAVR
• Experience with CABG

Unit Details

• Cardiac-focused unit
• Common patient types include CHF, NSTEMI, MI, heart block, pacer, TAVR, CABG day 2, post-cath recovery after sheath removal, Watchman, bradycardia, VT, and general PCU overflow such as respiratory failure, low blood pressure, low hemoglobin, sepsis, and post-surgical patients
• Common drips include amiodarone, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, heparin, nitro, and insulin
• Tele is on the unit, with a dedicated monitor tech
• RT equipment includes BiPAP, high flow, and stable trach
• Charge nurse is free of assignment, though may rarely take a couple patients
• PCA support is available
• Floating may include ICU within the patient population and medical-surgical floors
• Navy blue scrubs
• Orientation includes 1 NEO, 1 clinical education day, and 1 day on the floor

Scheduling

• Start dates are not flexible
• Weekend requirement: 4 weekend days per month
• Holiday requirement: 3 of 5 holidays
• Low census may result in full or partial day cancellation
