    Description

    ICU RN

    Overview

    • Travel RN role in Cortez, Colorado.
    • Must float to Med Surg.
    • 13-week contract, 36 hours per week.

    Required Qualifications

    • Valid RN license in Colorado.
    • ICU - Intensive Care Unit (1 year of experience).
    • ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year.
    • BLS.
    • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
    • Med Surg experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • Additional languages.
    • Minimum of 1 year ICU/Inpatient experience.

    Unit / Clinical Setting

    • ICU.
    • Patient population includes DKA, cardiac, sepsis, surgical, and high-risk decline patients.
    • ICU patient ratio is 2:1 for ICU status patients; may be 4:1 for Med Surg status patients when there are no current ICU status patients.

    Clinical Duties

    • Provides nursing care across the lifespan, including newborns through end of life.
    • Supports telemetry monitoring and basic arrhythmia interpretation.
    • Assists with procedures, rounds, medication administration, documentation, and patient care planning.
    • Additional unit-specific duties include family birthing, procedural sedation, antepartum/intrapartum/postpartum care, rapid sequence intubation, fetal monitoring, advanced cardiac monitoring, NST, rapid infuser, epidural, critical drips, induction, trauma alert, newborn care, CVP and A-line monitoring, ventilator/BiPAP, hearing screening, pre-term care, infant security, EMTALA, CCHD screening, and phototherapy.

    Work Environment / Conditions

    • Potential exposure to infectious waste, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, foul odors, heat, cold, snow, rain, and wind.
    • Moderate to occasionally loud noise level.
    • Occasional interaction with belligerent or aggressive patients and significant others.
    • Heavy physical demands, including lifting up to 100 lbs occasionally.
