Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN)
Role Overview
- Temp Registered Nurse (RN) in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
- Shift: Days
- Contract length: 13 weeks
Unit Details
- Patient types: CABG, ICD, Pacemaker, cardiac drips, vascular surgicals
- Patient ratios: Days 1:4; Nights 1:6
- Bed size: 24
- Tele tech unit monitoring: yes
- Scrubs: Navy blue, solids
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Valid RN license in Iowa
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- One completed travel assignment
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
- Driver's License
- Experience with ICD (implantable cardioverter-defibrillator) and Pacemaker patient populations
- Experience caring for CABG (coronary arterial bypass grafting) and vascular surgical patients
- Cardiac Rhythm experience
- Alaris IV pump equipment experience
- Wound vac equipment experience
- Cardiac drip titration experience
- Telemetry experience
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Qualifications
- Level I Trauma experience
- Professional reference/reference check from within the last 24 months
Scheduling and Assignment Notes
- Required to work 1-2 of the 3 upcoming winter holidays unless the unit is closed
- Required to float across Iowa Lutheran when needed
- Required to float across all campuses: Iowa Methodist MC, Iowa Lutheran, and Iowa Methodist
- NBO: 16 hrs
