Surgical Tech
Overview
- Location: Lexington, Kentucky
- Contract length: 18 weeks
- Shift: 3rd shift, 4x10s, 9p-7:30a
- Hours: 40 per week
Summary
Functions as a member of the surgical team under the direction of the registered nurse, performing scrub functions and supporting perioperative care.
Required Qualifications
- Surgical Technologist (1 year of experience)
- Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- BLS
- Technical diploma in surgical technology or associate's degree
Key Responsibilities
- Performs operative procedure support, including draping, instrumentation, suture, equipment handling, room setup, counting required items, anticipating surgeon needs, and preparing for emergency situations
- Maintains aseptic technique, including gowning, gloving, sterilization, disinfection, medication handling on the sterile field, and proper sharps disposal
- Supports unit activities, teamwork, orientation of new staff or students, preference card updates, and ongoing OR learning
- Participates in required safety training and follows National Patient Safety Goals and AORN Guidelines
- Supports positive customer relations and responds to customer needs and requests
