Description
Labor & Delivery RN
Overview
- Location: Show Low, Arizona
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week
- Hours: 36 per week
- Start date: ASAP
- Orientation: Every Monday
- Weekend requirement: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule minimum
- Floating: May float to ED or MS if experienced; may also float to other units, usually MedSurg
- Call: One shift per 4-week schedule
Required Qualifications
- Active AZ or compact RN license
- ACLS
- BLS
- NRP
- Intermediate or advanced fetal monitoring
- At least 3 years of experience
- C-section experience
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring and response to fetal distress
- Ability to care for patients with pre-eclampsia
- Clinical background in high-risk patients
- Ability to handle OB emergencies until the provider arrives
- Ability to function in L&D and couplet care
Unit Details
- 7 L&D beds
- 2 triage beds
- 10 postpartum beds
- 1–3 births per day
- About 830 births per year
- Typical ratio: 1:2
- OB/neonatologist not in house
- 24/7 pharmacy in house
- Respiratory therapist in unit 24/7
- Support staff includes Patient Care Technician and Health Unit Secretary
- OB scrub tech and HUC support noted on unit
