Couplet Nurse

Overview

• Travel assignment in Gilbert, Arizona.
• 13-week contract.
• Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week.
• Unit: Couplet Care.
• 22–30 postpartum beds.

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of experience.
• Active BLS certification.
• Active NRP certification.
• Active Arizona RN license or compact license.
• COVID vaccine required, or declination form with appropriate documentation and hospital approval.
• Pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation.

Preferred / Helpful

• Competence in other units if floating is needed.

Unit Details

• Typical ratio: 3:1 couplets, 4:1 with a PCT.
• Charge nurse manages the shift and typically does not take an assignment.
• PCT is not typically staffed, but may be used at 4:1.
• Nurses do their own IV starts.
• OB hospitalist is in house 24/7.
• Pediatrician coverage/on-call 24 hours.
• RT and Pharmacy are available 24/7.
• Tele: No.
• Vents: No.
• Floor-specific orientation: 3 shifts.

Floating

• May float cross campus to postpartum at Chandler Regional if needed.

Schedule Expectations

• 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule.
• Work 2 of the 3 major holidays.
• Nights are 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.

Patient Population

• Vaginal deliveries.
• C-section deliveries.
• Some patients may be on magnesium sulfate, antibiotics, or hypertensive medications.
