NICU Travel Nurse
Overview
- Location: New Brunswick, New Jersey
- Employment type: Travel/Contract
- Contract length: 13 weeks
- Shift: Night, 3x12 hours
- Hours per week: 36
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New Jersey
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
- NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Qualifications
- PALS
- Charge experience
Clinical Experience
- NICU care including developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, thermoregulation, blood glucose monitoring, phototherapy, isolation/PPE, and sepsis workup
- Blood and line management including blood products, arterial lines, central/implanted lines, IV starts/maintenance, and UAC/UVC
- Neonatal medication administration including anti-seizure medications, antibiotics/antivirals, IV vasopressors, neonatal dose calculations, steroids, surfactants, and insulin
- Feeding and GI support including breastfeeding support, breast milk handling, bottle/breast/gavage feedings, NEC care, and oral/NG/NJ tube placement
- Respiratory support including bubble CPAP, HFNC, chest tubes, oxygen delivery systems, RDS care, ETT/NT suctioning, Vapotherm, and ventilator management
- EPIC experience required
Schedule and Unit Details
- Every other weekend required
- Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays, per unit needs
- Ratios: 1:2 in NICU and 1:3-4 in SCN
- Unit includes neonates 29–34 weeks and >34 weeks gestation
- Will not attend high-risk deliveries
Floating
- Must float within skillset without exception
- May float to Newborn, Peds, and PICU for appropriate assignments

- Accepts first-time travelers
