NICU Registered Nurse

Location

  • Newark, New Jersey

Job Type

  • Travel/Contract
  • 13 weeks
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours
  • 36 hours per week

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New Jersey
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
  • NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • NRP
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Nursery experience
  • Pediatrics experience
  • PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience
  • Experience with Epic

Clinical Experience

  • NICU Level III
  • Care for neonatal abstinence syndrome
  • Care for neonates 29–34 weeks and >34 weeks
  • Telemetry monitoring
  • Ventilated/intubated patients
  • HFNC and other respiratory support
  • Blood products, IVs, medication management, phlebotomy
  • Breastfeeding support, enteral feedings, tube placement, glucose monitoring, insulin administration, phototherapy
  • Developmental care, patient/family teaching, infection control, isolation precautions, sepsis workup

Unit Notes

  • Does not attend high-risk deliveries
  • Does not take level IV patients, ECMO, or fresh post-ops
  • Must be able to float within skillset to NBN, Peds, and PICU
  • Scrubs: Navy blue

Schedule Notes

  • Every other weekend required
  • Must work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays, per unit needs
  • Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
