Overview

• Location: Tulsa, Oklahoma
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours
• Hours per week: 36

Required Qualifications

• ICU RN
• ACLS (AHA)
• BLS (AHA)
• NIHSS - AHA Only
• 3 years of ICU experience
• No first time travelers
• EPIC experience within the last year
• 2 years of recent hospital acute experience in the area submitted to
• One supervisor reference from the most recent/current assignment
• DOB and SSN needed
• Must note if clinician has ever worked for OSU

Unit Details

• ICU has 23 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
• Common patient types include high acuity mixed Medical-Surgical and Thoracic/Cardiovascular ICU cases
• No trauma, hemorrhagic strokes, or neuro surgery
• Travelers may be assigned IABP, Impella, CRRT, or open heart recovery if competency is established and verified
• Charge nurse has no patient assignment
• Nurse aides are available 1 on days and nights if census is over 8 patients
• Dedicated ICU Internal Medicine team is in house 24/7
• RT is in ICU 24/7
• RT equipment includes ventilator, BiPAP, and HiFlow Nasal Cannula
• No monitor techs; nurses are responsible for EKG monitoring, interpretation, and placing strips into the chart
• Travelers are first to float and may be assigned a patient team of up to 5 patients

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Minimum of 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week schedule block
• Holidays are worked at manager discretion based on unit needs
• No holiday RTO will be approved
• Holiday call-ins will result in cancellation of contract
• No call or standby requirement
• First schedule period may require filling gaps to balance short shifts
• Future scheduling is through Oracle and shifts are selected first-come, first-served before manager balancing
• Staff are not guaranteed set schedules or 3 in a row
• Shift swapping is allowed through Oracle
• Two orientation shifts are required
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation
• Modules are required before the first day and are non-billable
• Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation

Additional Notes

• Black scrubs required
• Clinicians must clock in and out at the facility
• Nurses are expected to draw their own labs and perform EKGs
• VAD team is available for PICC placement and difficult IV sticks during weekday hours, but nurses are expected to attempt PIVs first
• Support staff is available 24/7 but not assigned to ICU
