PICU RN
Overview
- Travel RN role in the PICU.
- Unit has 24 beds.
- Floor: 4CT.
- Building: MCH.
- Address: 7700 Floyd Curl Dr., San Antonio, TX 78229.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care (1 year of experience)
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience within the last year
- Intubated/vents experience
- ICU level of care experience
- PALS
- BLS
Preferred Qualifications
- ECMO experience, taking care of the patient not the pump
- CRRT experience
Unit Details
- Staffed with 40 total staff.
- Day shift staffing: 1 charge, 5-6 RN depending on census, 1 UC.
- Night shift staffing: 1 charge, 5-6 RN depending on census, 1 UC.
- Typical patient ratios: 2:1, 1:1 for higher acuity, and 3:1 for lower step-down acuity.
- Common equipment includes vents, drips, chest tubes, central lines, syringe pumps, trachs, and GT.
- Typical patient population includes ICU-level patients across respiratory, neuro, GI, GU, plastics, burns, DKA, medically sick patients with a cardiac history, ortho, and ENT.
- Typical procedures include central line and chest tube placement, sedation, LP, and intubation.
Floating
- May float to all children’s units and NICU, including PIMC, PSRG, Pedi Hemonc, ER for inpt holds, and PCICU.
Schedule
- Every other weekend required.
- 36 hours per week.
- 13-week contract.
