Overview

• Role: Med Surg 3CC RN
• Location: Bismarck, North Dakota
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Days
• Hours: 48 per week
• Department: MedSurg 3CC RN
• Unit size: 30 beds

Required Qualifications

• BLS certification
• RN license
• Able to work every other weekend
• Available for holidays as needed

Preferred

• Surgical experience
• Post-op experience
• Early ambulation experience

Unit Details

• Typical patient population includes total joint replacement, spinal surgery, urology procedures, abdominal surgery, bariatrics, medical overflow, hemo hemovacs, JP drains, and colostomies
• No GYN patients; those go to maternity and cardiac MS Tele
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: days 1:4-5; nights 1:5-6
• Charge nurse is present on both shifts and may occasionally take a low-acuity assignment at night
• Nurse aides/patient care techs are on the unit at a ratio of 1:12, with 1 tech
• RNs do not titrate drips
• Common drips/equipment include occasional heparin drip, PCA pump, TPN, and nasal cannula; RT handles treatments
• Remote tele packs are used, with a monitor tech reading and interpreting strips; RNs do not read their own strips
• Bedside shift report is expected
• Scrubs may be any color

Floating

• Float to medical and telemetry
• May assist with strips and take medical patients in that area

Scheduling Notes

• Schedule is made by the manager
• Day/night rotation will not occur more than weekly
• Block scheduling may be considered if unit needs are met

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers are accepted
• RTO must be provided upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
• Radius rule: 50 miles
