Description
Cardiac Sonographer
Role
Cardiac Sonographer in the Echocardiography department.
Location
Omaha, Nebraska
Contract
13 weeks
Schedule
8-hour day shifts; call as needed
Required Qualifications
- High school education or equivalent
- Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience from an accredited cardiac ultrasound program performing all types of cardiac ultrasound in a health care environment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated and able to work independently to accomplish tasks that require self-direction
- AHA Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification
- Prior cardiac and/or vascular ultrasound experience in a health care environment
- Minimum of 3 solid years of cardiac sonographer experience; 2 years may be considered if the candidate has been at an academic teaching hospital
- Minimum 2 years of travel experience; candidates with this being their first assignment will not be considered
- Registered in cardiac ultrasound (ARDMS; RCS via CCI is acceptable)
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 18 years of age or older
- Associate's degree from an accredited cardiac ultrasound program performing all types of cardiac ultrasound in a health care environment
- Demonstrate ability to think deductively and make clinical decisions accordingly
- Experience with typical office equipment such as telephone, fax machine, copy machine, and calculator
- Experience with ultrasound equipment, transesophageal transducers, research computer systems, centricity hospital information system, and digital echo storage system
- Demonstrate knowledge of principles and function of the cardiovascular system and vascular circulatory system, including physics and blood flow hemodynamics
