Description

ER (Emergency Room) RN

Location

Lincoln, Nebraska

Contract Length

13 weeks

Schedule

12-hour night shifts
48 hours per week
Every 3rd weekend
2 holidays per year

Unit Details

Emergency Room / Trauma Center
33 total beds/trauma bays: 25 adult beds and 8 pediatric beds
2 trauma bays: 1 adult and 1 pediatric
2 separate triage bays
ER holds are intermixed with ER patients
ER nurses manage their own holds
In-house security
Typical patient volume: 70-85 per day
Ratio: 1 RN to 4 patients
All rooms are capable of cardiac monitoring
Radiology is near the ED, but not within the department
ED has 1 ED Tech from 7am-3am
RT completes ABGs and breathing treatments
ED RNs and ED Techs complete EKGs
Nurse draw for 95% of orders

Required Qualifications

RN license
BLS (AHA)
ACLS (AHA)
TNCC
NIHSS
PALS (AHA)
ED experience
Driver’s license required at submittal

Preferred Qualifications

ENPC
NRP

Floating

May float only to the pediatric ED
No floating to inpatient units

Additional Notes

Pass/fail exam during orientation; open-book skills exam with a required 90% passing score
Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
Navy scrubs
1-2 days of unit orientation before working independently
