Description
PICU RN
Overview
- Travel assignment in Dallas, Texas
- 13-week contract
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- Day and night shift traveler positions are available
- Floating is as needed; travelers are first to float to NICU, CHSU, general pediatrics, and peds hem/onc units
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- BLS
- PALS
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
- PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care experience within the last year
- Experience in a Critical Care setting
- Experience with arterial lines
- Experience with central line management
- Experience with ventilator management
- Experience with HFOV ventilation
- Experience with external ventricular drains (EVD)
- Experience with neuro monitoring
- Experience with immediate post-operative care
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with critical care management of respiratory illnesses, sepsis, and DKA
- Experience with pressure lines, including CVPs, arterial lines, and some UAC/UVC
- Experience with ventilated patients, including HFOV, VDR, and Servo
- Experience with drips including epi, nor-epi, milrinone, dopamine, and precedex
- Experience with complex trauma patients, including EVDs, Codmans, and neuro assessments
- Experience with complex pediatric postop patients, including congenital anomalies/craniofacial cases and tracheostomies
Unit Details
- Unit: PICU (645)
- Documentation system: Meditech
- Procedures on the unit include Foley insertions, trans-pyloric feeding tubes, dressing changes for wounds and CVLs, and port access
Additional Notes
- Weekend and call requirements are discussed during the interview
- RN scrub color: blue
- Nail policy prohibits artificial nails, gel, and next gen nails
- Visible piercings other than ears are prohibited
- Body art should be covered whenever possible
