Location
Seattle, Washington
Assignment Details
- Travel/Contract
- 13 weeks
- Day shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00–19:30
- 48 hours per week
Role Overview
- Level III or IV NICU
- 77-bed NICU with average census of 50
- Travelers usually do not admit babies because the unit has a dedicated Admit Nurse
- Rarely floats to Peds; if floated there, care is limited to infants
- May float to Issaquah or Edmonds SCN, or Pediatrics/NBN for newborn care only
- Must be open to floating to different campuses
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (3 years of experience)
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ACLS
- BLS
- PALS
- NRP
- NURSYS verification
- IV certification
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Fit Mask
- RespSafety Clearance
- Washington State Patrol search
- Background check
- Education verification
- Employment application with at least the last 5 years of employment
- References: minimum of 2 references covering 1 year of employment total within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Skills checklist for the applicable unit
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam, as applicable by profession
- Competency exam, as applicable by profession/specialty
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB or chest X-ray
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B
- Varicella
- Drug testing
- Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation
- COVID documentation
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Must have been separated from any Providence affiliated facility for at least 3 months if previously a permanent employee
Clinical Experience / Skills
- Level III or IV NICU care
- 23–24 weeks gestation
- No ECMO, but all other listed NICU support is included:
- CPAP/BiPap
- High Frequency Vents
- Oscillators
- Vents
- Blood/Blood Products Administration
- Cardioversion/Defibrillation
- Cooling/Warming Blanket
- Feeding Tubes
- PICC/Central Lines
- Syringe Pumps
- Attends high-risk deliveries
- Neonatal surgeries
Preferred
- Block schedule if preferred, with ability to work 3 or more shifts in a row
