Diagnostic Imaging Tech

Overview

• Contract assignment in State College, Pennsylvania
• Night shift: Sunday-Thursday, no weekends
• Contract length: 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

• Radiology Technologist experience within the last year
• ARRT (R)
• BLS issued by American Heart Association
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

• One year of experience performing radiological procedures in a hospital, clinic, or physicians office

Role Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, and respond to patient questions
• Perform diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians
• Prepare and position patients for examinations and take correct views for examination
• Operate CR, Fluoro, and DR rooms safely and efficiently
• Operate CR readers and printers
• Transfer images to PACS, scan documents, and route
• Change priority to STAT or URGENT when necessary
• Assist the Radiologist and/or Fluoro Tech during fluoroscopic and special procedure examinations
• Move portable radiographic equipment for procedures within Emergency Dept., Operating Room, PACU, and Nursing departments
• Use proper sterile technique during examinations in the operating room and for various procedures within the Radiology department
• Prepare IV and Oral contrast media and administer contrast media as needed
• Document patient symptoms, history, imaging limitations, date, time of study, and technologist initials in PACS
• Maintain room assignments and keep the work area clean and orderly
• Follow radiation safety practices consistent with ALARA standards
• Escort patients throughout the department and/or hospital
• Perform clerical duties, including monitoring workflow using PACS, Image release, and CD burner
• Assist in office functions and perform office tasks during off shifts
• Perform quality assurance duties as assigned
• Explain policies, procedures, and clerical functions to radiology students as directed
