Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• PALS (AHA)
• PACU/ICU experience

Unit Details

• PACU unit
• 13 Preop beds, 19 PACU beds, and 5 Phase 2 beds
• Phase 1 and Phase 2 care
• Common cases include ortho total joints and spine, OB/GYN, general, urology, and endoscopy
• ICU patients recover in PACU
• RNs read strips

Schedule

• Days
• 40 hours per week
• Hybrid scheduling with requests taken but not guaranteed
• No block scheduling
• Variable 10 or 12 hour shifts staggered between 6a-10a
• Weeknight call: 1 night a week, 1930-0730
• Weekend call: every 6th weekend
• Holiday call: 2 holidays a year, including Thanksgiving and Christmas
• Call response time: 30 minutes

Float Scope

• Within the unit to Preop and PACU Phase 1 and Phase 2

Additional Details

• Charge nurse takes an assignment as needed
• No nurse aides on the unit
• RT equipment includes vents, Optiflow, Bi-Pap, and Cpap
• Blue scrubs; hospital-provided scrubs are used
• Orientation is primarily PACU, with Preop/PACU orientation
• Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation
