CST/ORT - OR
Overview
- Travel assignment in Springfield, Missouri
- Main OR
- 1 opening
- Days, 4x10, scheduled between 0700-1900
- 36 guaranteed hours per week
- 13-week assignment
- Weekend hours as required by facility
- Call required on any scheduled day, averaging around 5 or less per 8 weeks
- Float requirements as required by facility
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program
- Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
- 1 year of experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist in a hospital setting
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications
- CORST
- Level 1 trauma experience with multiple years of experience
Unit Details
- Main OR has 22 beds, ASC has 8 beds, and Ortho has 10 beds
- Patient ratio: 1:1
- Uses DaVinci robotic equipment
- Patient population ranges from outpatient to critical care inpatient
Role Summary
- Provides direct patient care under the supervision of the surgeon and circulating Registered Nurse
- Sets up surgical cases across multiple specialty disciplines
- Performs sterile field maintenance, instrument/sponge/sharp counts, and assists OR staff as needed
- Serves as a resource for newly hired Surgical Technicians and visiting Surgical Technology students
Work Conditions
- May work differing schedules, shifts, days, or work frequency based on patient requirements
- Must be able to stand and walk most of the time
- Must be able to lift and push patients on stretchers and lift/push equipment and instrument sets
- Requires working with contaminated instruments and equipment
- Requires strict adherence to Universal Precautions
- Fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations
- On-call shifts required
