Overview

• Schedule: 0830-1900 with on call

Role Summary

• The Surgical Technician functions as part of the perioperative team under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, providing safe and effective intraoperative care.
• The role includes first, second, or assisting Surgical Technician responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

• 1 year of Surgical Technician experience
• Surgical Technician experience within the last year
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association
• Associate's degree in surgical technology or certificate of completion of a surgical technology program
• Applied knowledge of lasers

Responsibilities

• Applies the principles of asepsis to maintain a sterile environment
• Demonstrates competency in select technical and psychomotor skills, judgment, and appropriate knowledge base
• Provides age-specific care to obstetrical patients according to department policies and procedures
• Assists in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment
• Maintains a safe environment and follows safety and legal requirements
• Charges for equipment and supplies
• Participates in room turnover and set-up
• Maintains and cleans equipment and identifies items needing repair
• Performs sterilization, disinfection, and documentation of loads per policy
