Description
Med Surg Oncology RN
Overview
- 13-week contract in Fargo, North Dakota.
- Unit includes 6S with 16 inpatient oncology beds and 7S with 12 inpatient oncology beds focused more on hematology/bone marrow transplant.
Required Qualifications
- Active BLS certification through AHA.
- Active ND or Compact RN license, or willingness to obtain it.
- 2 years of recent nursing experience in a large hospital setting with 250+ beds.
- Experience in a busy level 1 trauma center.
- EPIC experience.
Preferred
- Travel experience.
- Inpatient oncology experience.
- Hematology experience.
- Bone marrow transplant experience.
Schedule
- Day/night rotating shifts.
- 12-hour shifts.
- Every other weekend and every other holiday.
- No call required.
Floating
- Floats to all med surg units/locations within Fargo as needed.
- May also float to other Med Surg units at Broadway and potentially to other Fargo Med Surg units at Med Center or South.
Unit Details
- Nurses care for medically complex hematology/oncology patients needing blood products, antibiotics, and symptom/side effect management.
- If trained to administer chemotherapy, the nurse could be assigned accordingly.
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3 for patients receiving chemotherapy or BMT patients, 1:4-5 for regular oncology patients, and 1:4-6 on nights.
- Orientation includes 8 hours of classroom training followed by 24-36 hours of unit training.
Additional Notes
- Cannot take travelers living within 60 miles of the facility.
- Local travel rate applies to those living 60 to 80 miles from the facility.
- Clinicians must badge in and out.
- Navy blue scrubs are required.
